Only one in two Americans are happy in their jobs. Which side are you on?
Goodman reminds us that there is an alternative to the cubicle wars, and then goes on to tell you how to sucessfully go get it. Although reading this book is like sitting down with a particularly helpful veteran freelancer, that doesn't mean Goodman coddles the entrepreneur. Solid, realistic advice is coupled throughout with an admonishment to get your head out of the clouds and into your Quickbooks. Goodman deals with everything from accounting to client retention to home office set up. In fact, "My So-Called Freelance Life" has one of the most thorough chapters on pricing that I've come across in the industry.
Goodman basically takes all the business/entrepreneur advice that most freelancers learn in their first two (bumpy) years, and lays it out coherently, kindly and without padding, saving you time, money and well, bumps.
