Definitely a site to use occasionally, but be sure you explore its various pages a little and find the best way/page/entry point for your particular job search habits. I recommend using the "Search" function from the front page to get to "jobs by category" which offers better information and usability features.
- On the right page, each job displays with a paragraph of information
- On the right page, each job's original listing location is given
- Jobs in your location are also displayed seperate from telecommute results
- Updated daily or near-daily
- Lists jobs in several different ways- you may end up with a list OR a paragraph
- Two or three different job list entry points are somewhat confusing
- Sometimes links to subscription job sites or bid sites
- No fee required
- No registration required
- Updated daily
- Chock full of great content, too
Let me say this about Poe War- I adore John Hewitt's content. There is nothing about writing you can't find on his site. He deserves some recognition for that!
But I couldn't figure out some parts of the site. The first time I reviewed the jobs listing, was through the direct link to "jobs by category". I was happy with the organization, the visual set up and the usability. I liked that jobs local to me were in a seperate frame on the right hand side. I liked the information available in each job, especially when it appeared in a paragraph before you even clicked on the job. The bottom of each paragraph stated when the job was found/posted. That's some convenience, right?
However, upon entering the site a second time, from the front page, I was taken to a different place inside the site where the job listings seemed to not have the same sortability and usability as before.
Therefore, if you're short on time, like I am, be sure to figure out the best way to get the information you want out of Poe War, and then stick to it.
Oh, and definitely check out the great content!
