This Is What Freelance Writing Success Looks Like

Sunday January 4, 2009

As I mentioned below, I spent some time cleaning out my bookmarks (and my C drive, and my files, and my Blackberry:) ). I came across this blog by freelance writer and published author Meagan Francis.

I think I had originally bookmarked her because she writes (wrote) a column for a newspaper in my area. Knowing that many of my readers are interested in writing in the genres of home and family, I thought Meagan's career might be of interest to you. Her blog is quite cute and her writing credits are respectable.

As a freelance writer, I tend to get caught up in reading almost solely about freelance writing. It's refreshing to step back from that, as I did over this winter break. So, help me out by telling me about your favorite blog that isn't solely about freelance writing- maybe an author blog, a book review blog, or a blog by another freelance professional? One rule: it can't be your own!

OMG, I totally love AV Flox’s OMG.OMG.OMFG! It’s got a little bit of everything, and very well-researched, entertaining articles.

I enjoy Chris Hardwick’s . He’s a freelancer that recently wrote for Wired magazine, but also does standup comedy and other ventures.

I adore this cute blog and visit it often to get away from writing-blindness. It is a little slice of what my heaven would look like- colorful, vintage, craftsy. I often keep it open in a background tab just to listen to her playlist too. It even inspired me to build my own fairy door for my apartment. :)

I love Mimi Smartypants. She is so unapologetically irreverant, not to mention intelligent and well read, that it’s impossible to resist her snark. I highly recommend her.
