Writing gift
- Can't think of any. I get inputs on writing styles from copyblogger and Sean Platt. Lately from Jon Morrison. If ever there was a gift I think it is the knowledge I got from these invaluable sources.

Mine was an Apple IIgs
- My best "writing" gift was an Apple IIgs computer as a junior high graduation present in 1990, which my mother, father, and stepfather had pooled resources to afford. I'd been pushing to use both household's computers every spare moment since learning that typing stories on a computer was as much of an addictive joy as hand-writing with my autistic weak fine motor skills had been a chore. It worked in their best interest as well, as I like to tease them: they never had to worry about me getting into trouble in high school, since I ended up being much too busy writing wild adventures to actually have any myself!

A kinder way to say "back to work, bub"
- My wife (at my request, to be honest) once bought me a Tshirt that says "I Should Be Writing". I love it. It simultaneously announces me as a writer (makes me proud), and questions whether I really ought to be doing what I'm doing if I'm not writing (keeps me humble). I got it from Mur Lafferty's site (http://isbw.murlafferty.com/), where "I Should Be Writing" is motto and mantra. Mur's podcast was very helpful to get me going and keep me going, in the beginning of my writing-and-risking-everything era of life. Now I'm too busy to listen to podcasts about getting busy, a very happy place to be for an entrepreneur! An entrepreneur who, someday, wants to be a published author too... for now a simple Tshirt helps keep the dream alive.

Reading is Fundamental
- My best gifts yet were books….I were asked what I wanted and given the money and guess what I spent it on….books….books...and more books. I love these books...I bought them from Amazon…and guess what they were about…..Yes…you got it….freelance writing etc. Loved it…still reading them too….this are gifts that are for me alone. Something that will help me achieve my dreams….to…write a book, make six figures writing, getting out of this apartment and buying a house, getting a car…etc. I feel the best gift or gifts that I could get is a gift that enhances my life and others connected to me….and this is what I got.

Writing Desk
- For my 40th b-day, my husband and kids gave me a beautiful writer's desk. Although I don't write as often as I would like, it is a reminder he realizes how much writing is important to me! It is also a reminder to me that I need to write!!!

best writing gift
- Hi Allena, Great post. I should forward the list to my family. Lol.The best writing gift I received was a small journal with a dried flower on the cover. My friend Nicole wrote this inscription "I want to make sure you keep on writing." It was so pretty that I didn't write in it til a few months ago. I started a letters project and have been writing in it ever since. It was so thoughtful, I cried. Lol. Its nice to have such a cheerleader on my team. :) Thanks for letting me share.
