I cover a broad range of topics related to freelance writing, including marketing, social media, books I've read, and issues in the news related to publishing. I don't talk about how to write, writing skills, how to get published, etc.
Provide Details on Theme, Purpose and Content
To share ideas about the many aspects of the business of freelance writing that involve more than just the actual writing itself or the operation of a home office. The market for freelance writing is in a state of flux, and the old strategies may not work anymore. I spend a lot of time discussing online marketing, blogs, web sites, content mills, and other useful sites.
Lessons Learned
- I try to be consistent, but sometimes I go off on a tangent
- I can't post daily, but I try to post at least weekly
- There are literally hundreds of blogs about writing
- I started with Blogger and changed to WordPress
- My interest lags at times, and I have to be inspired by something or someone who peaks my interest
- I have linked my blog to my LinkedIn profile, but I have not linked it to my Facebook profile or Twitter account
- If I make a mistake or cite someone by name, I get a lot more comments and reactions
