Writing Blogs

A Resource and a Community

By Allena Tapia, About.com

One place to learn more about freelance writing is through blogs. Blogs present information in a timely and current manner, and some also offer the added bonus of interaction through community and questions.

Following is a list of writer's blogs to get you started in your reading and networking.

Writer Beware Blogs: A watchdog group that delivers news and warnings about publishers and literary agents. A good place to check and see if that unknown or up-and-coming publication pays its writers on time- these bloggers and their community can smell a scam a mile away.

Freelance Parent- Emoms @ Home: Follow the beginning and intermediate stages of two women who left their fulltime jobs and set up a freelance business.

Figaro Speech: “Figures of speech served fresh.” Great info and inspiration.

Women On Writing (WOW): Obviously aimed at women readers, I give guys permission to take a peek.

Inkthinker Blog: Follow Virginia copywriter Kristen King’s quest to make $100,000 in one year- a very valuable peek and a pretty blog to boot.

Questions and Quandaries/Writers Digest: Excellent information updated often.
