Tagline - What Is a Tagline?

By Allena Tapia, About.com

Definition: This is when the writer is given credit by having his/her name appear at the end of an article. There's not much difference in the placement between a byline and a tagline- it is often a matter of design and graphics. It is possible that a tagline is more likely to include a few biographical sentences about the writer, simply due to its placement on the page.
Examples: The editor asked me to send over a bio to be placed under my tagline.
