Definition: A fact checker is the employee or freelancer in charge of verifying written information in any non-fiction medium, such as reports, magazine articles, newspapers, books or circulars. The fact checker uses many tools, including their own store of information, internet, research journals, government information stores, and first persons. Freelancers may come into contact with fact checker needing to get in touch with their article's sources for follow up and verification. Fact checkers don't only check facts, but may also verify figures, spellings and locations.
