What's a Call Out Box

By Allena Tapia, About.com

Definition: A call out box that is requested by an editor is a simple, attention-getting quote from your article. The graphics department will then lay it out on the page. Usually the editor will choose the quote themselves.
Also Known As: May be confused with a side bar, which is a supplement to an article.
Examples: Since this quote summed up the entire article, I decided to use it in a call out box.
