Definition: A bid site is one of several online services where those seeking a contractor in just about any field can go to post their project and ask for bids. For freelance writers, the current, common bid sites are elance.com and guru.com, among others. Writers will find individuals, companies, authors, publishers and magazines who are in need of a specific project to be completed. Writers then "bid" on that project, and the employer chooses a candidate.
