Who Are the "Hurdles" Standing in Your Way?

The new edition of Women on Writing is out (always exciting!). My Freelance Corner column this month talks about some of the people who act as "Gatekeepers" that you'll encounter along the way in your writing career. It's easy to envision these people for novelists--editors and agents--but what about for copywriters, freelance journalists and so on? Who might you encounter and, more importantly how do you deal with them? Check it out here: The Gatekeepers; A Guide to the Deciders on Your Writing Journey.

I like Allena’s piece about the “Gatekeepers” that writers encounter along the way and how to deal with them. Well, I’m not sure I could be called a gatekeeper. I’m a free lance editor. My heart is with writers because I’m a writer myself. I want to help you make your manuscript the very best it can be, whether you seek a commercial publisher or choose to self publish. I look at myself as more of a fan than a gatekeeper. I’m rooting for you, hoping that you’ll drag that manuscript out of the desk where it’s been gathering dust for months or years. I want to help you get that manuscript out to publishers. You can succeed as a writer whether your book sells twenty copies or twenty thousand. If you want to interact, email me at sfort1222@msn.com. I wish all editors have your attitude, Steve. Thanks for your comment!
