"I'm Going to Sue You For Something You Wrote!"

If you've been a freelancer or blogger for as long as I have (well, it's only been 6 years, so...) you've likely heard this empty phrase. Once you learn the true reasons someone can or cannot sue you for your writing, you'll learn to laugh at them. Like I did. Just now. This one's for you. You know who you are. ("I'm going to sue you for threatening to expose my writing scam!" Ok...)

For my fellow writers, learn. Get educated. It will save you some serious stress in the future.

I have a blog category called Writer Watch where I give true accounts of those who did me wrong as far as payment goes or who wanted to pay significantly less (like 0.0001 per word) than most content companies. This started when I wrote for eHow but unfortunately, it has now grown into it’s own category where I post bi-weekly now.

I think it’s great that bloggers can give factual accounts as to how some people are really shady because regular jobs are hard to find and many of us must hustle to pay bills.
