A Quote for You

Monday July 6, 2009

I picked this one up from someone on Facebook.

Take out another notebook, pick up another pen and just write. Just write, just write. In the middle of the world, make one positive step. In the centre of chaos, make one definitive act. Just write. Say yes, stay alive, be awake. Just write. Just write. Just write. ~Natalie Goldman

(1) Valerie Russo says:

1. There are lousy jobs that pay a little,
and there are lousy jobs that pay a lot.
The lousy jobs that pay a lot are better.
2. There are good jobs that pay a little,
and there are good jobs that pay a lot.
The good jobs that pay a lot you don’t get.
-Valerie A. Russo

Moral of the story: Work hard at a lousy job that pays a lot. Save your money. Then quit and get yourself a good job that pays a little.

(2) Valerie Russo says:

This quote from Calvin Coolidge, 1932, inspires me:

Nothing in the world can take the place of PERSISTENCE
-TALENT will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
-GENIUS will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
-EDUCATION will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.

Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On,” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

I agree with your #2 more than your #1. “The good jobs that pay a lot you don’t get” isn’t true. You have to pya your dues first, then you get them!

(4) Valerie Russo says:

Paying your dues does not guarantee you a “good” high paying job. I know plenty of highly qualified people who did not get the promotion they deserved. BUT DON’T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU. Don’t whine, “Oh, I should have gotten that job; I’m so much for qualified than so-and-so.” If you work hard at a “lousy” (stressful with long hours and other disadvantages) job and save your money, you can then afford to take a “good” job that pays less money – or create a new job for yourself by starting your own business.
