Sit Down and Read! (Yes, you.)
I have an absolutely ridiculous amount of books stacked next to me that need to be read. I review books for this site, and also have a contract to review books for a publicity company. There are also books that I simply believe I "should" read as a writer. Then, there are the books I want to read.
Yeah.
A downfall of this is obviously that reading for pleasure is skewered. Reading has become more of a chore for me- or work. In fact, sometimes I put on a timer when I read, since I need to be careful of my hourly rate.
So, imagine my surprise when I sat down to read Michelle Goodman's "My So-Called Freelance Life" and was absolutely relaxed and entertained for the space of 3 hours? This woman has a voice! Yes, she covers all the things that freelance entrepreneurs need to know, but how she does it is just so ... fun. Read my review of Goodman's newest book, and then be sure to grab a copy!

I’d second that recommendation. I reviewed the book as well and I have to say that Michelle’s a phenomenal writer!
I’m sorry, what was the message you were trying to convey?
Robert, I will highlight the transition sentence so that you can more easily follow:
“So, imagine my surprise when I sat down to read Michelle Goodman’s “My So-Called Freelance Life” and was absolutely relaxed and entertained for the space of 3 hours!”
I have to agree. I loved reading this book. Michelle has a wonderful voice that is easy to read. It’s amazing that a book that is so choc full technical information is also a fun read. Highly recommended! I want to read more of her.
Loved your review! Agreed that Goodman has a good voice and makes the subject matter accessible and interesting.
!:) I got a comment from my fave publisher! Thanks for visiting Andie.
PS I have an email from you I am desperately trying to answer, but my About.com mail account is being mean to me. I’ll probably have to write you from my personal account.
This is your job yet you don’t know how the title of a book should be punctuated? (Hint: italicize or underline, never use quotation marks.)
Virginia- wrong. Since About.com is owned by the New York Times, we use AP Style, which puts book titles in quoatations. Ap Style eschews underlines or italics because of the difficulty in transferring such things over “the wire.”
Try a little research before you go around perpetuating misinformation and insulting people’s jobs.
oh, and About.com kindly pays for my AP Style website membership where these things are listed, but those without a subscription can look here:
