Women Writers - Writing Competition Deadline Extended

Forgive me, as I know this is a little off topic, but I also know many of us write in many different genres. One of my very favorite writing organizations- A Room of Her Own- recently introduced a series of writing competitions in several genres. This particular organization is a little different and unique in their mission: to support women writers both financially and otherwise. Specifically, they offer a large arts award- $50,000- appropriately titled "The Gift of Freedom." Freedom, indeed!

Although the Gift of Freedom application period is over for this year, their current writing contests are certainly not small change! They're offering a $1000 prize in the areas of poetry, fiction, non-fiction and sudden fiction.

Let me encourage you to stretch a little out of your genre. Although freelance writing pays the bills, maybe your voice resides somewhere else. What have you got to say?
