Introducing the International Association of Writers
Hi readers, thought I'd pass on the following email from Fern Reiss, a veteran freelance writer and published author. I've lightly browsed her new endeavor, the International Association of Writers, and would be happy to hear your take on it, or any other writing associations from which you've benefited.
Looking for more publicity for your writing? Tired of endless queries to literary agents? Wondering how other writers manage to get quoted repeatedly in magazines? Frustrated because you know you'd be a good speaker on your area of expertise--if only you could figure out how to land those high-paying speaking engagements? Thinking you'd really like to syndicate your column--but not sure how to get started? For only $149/ year, here's your answer.
The International Association of Writers is a new organization aimed at writers worldwide--from freelance writers to novelists, ghostwriters to tech writers, and everyone in between--who want more publicity for their work. The IAW offers publicity benefits including:
- An international speakers' bureau to help writers get booked by conference and meeting planners
- A database of experts for the media to help writers get quoted by journalists and editors in magazines and newspapers
- A syndicated articles directory to aid writers in getting their pieces syndicated by websites and ezines
- Online displays for, and mailings to, libraries, bookstore owners, bloggers, and reviewers, to get member authors' books purchased by bookstores and libraries
- A query letter forum, to give authors the opportunity to have their queries and manuscripts viewed by large numbers of literary agents and publishers
- A freelance writer's market, to give freelancers, ghostwriters, editors, etc the opportunity to find writing jobs more easily.
Wow, writers, that sure sounds like a lot of services for one fee, which is why I'm passing the info on. However, I haven't tried the service, so if we have any members in our reading audience, please let the rest of us know your experience! In addition, if you'd like this association reviewed by yours truly, leave me a comment and I'll see what I can arrange.

I’m glad to see your announcement! I have known Fern Reiss for several years and love everything she does. I used her books about publishing when I published my first book. Also, I hired her both for PR and for consulting on the book launch. Her advice and support have been invaluable to me. As a charter member, I can’t wait to read the International Association of Writers newsletter, which I hear will have great contributers, like publicity guru Joan Stewart and small business expert Barbara Weltman.
This sounds like an organization I would definitely like to join. The cost, however, is prohibative for me. Are there any alternate forms of payment?
Like many others, I, too, know Fern and she never does anything half-way. I am thrilled to be part of this association and can’t wait to take advantage of the membership benefits. In this rough-scrabble economy we writers need to bond together.
Fern has done excellent work for me as my publicist on my two most recent books, Soul at Work and The Soul of a Leader. She always goes above and beyond the call of duty. The International Association of Writers membership is a bargain at $149, because Fern offers such a wide range of services to writers.
We would like very much to get in touch with writers in any any places and be able to introduce our fellow writers to them. Please visit our website which will be translated into English very soon
Thanks
