Seeking Submissions: The Litchfield Literary Review

Wednesday October 8, 2008

Hi writers. Wow, I just could not believe the email and comments that I got about the last blog on "What Kind of Writer Are You?" I hope you got your answers in, but if not, I'm still all ears.

I just received this call for submissions. Hope we have some essayists and short story writers out there who can submit to the Litchfield Literary Review. Maybe I'll see what I can dig out of the archives.

The Litchfield Literary Review, a semi-annual on line publication, is preparing to launch this fall. We need your work to fill our pages.

We seek works about New England, or on any subject written by New England based writers. We pay $25.00 per accepted submission and only accept e-mailed submissions. Writers are welcomed to submit up to three pieces at one time. We welcome short fiction of less then 6,000 words, non-fiction, flash fiction, one act plays, ten-minute plays, interviews, book reviews and essays.

We respect writers and will reply to all submissions in a timely manner. Honest. We acquire first time publication rights, but all rights revert to the author after publication. Authors are invited to include a bio and a photo, which will be published with their work, if they so choose.

Please send work to Submissions@Thelitchfieldliteraryreview.com. Remember to include a snail mail return address so we can forward a check to you should we run your work.

Only New England based writer? I guess that leave those of us who live elsewhere out!

I always like to see local markets being advertised – it is good to see what is out there, and might make new writers think about what other small or start up publications might want their work in their own local area.

Allena:

I think there may be an error on your blog. The Litchfield Literary Review website (http://www.thelitchfieldliteraryreview.com)states payment as $5.00, not $25.00.

The Litchfield Literary Review no longer offers payment, although private arrangements are made with writers. We seek stories about New England or based in New England from any writers anywhere, but New England born writers or writers who now live in New England get a preference

Please, please, please take down this notice. We stopped paying writers. Yet they continue to send in work on the wrongful assumption of payment. Frankly 99.5% of what we got, AND WE GOT A LOT…was not worth buying. I’m not being mean, I’m being honest. Please remove this notice from your site. Thank you
